Part of the “Shining a Light Into the Darkness” series by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Anthroposophical Branch and Ideas Lending Library in Kimberton Village, this lecture was given to illuminate how the subtle realm of becomings can be an image for healing, or for ill.
As social challenges are intensifying, we are called upon more urgently to develop new capacities in understanding the human being, nature, and medicine in wholeness. This series will focus on historical thinking influences which still darkly affect the soul of every modern human being.
Because we see everywhere today that the “light shines into the darkness and the darkness comprehends it not,” what is our response to the recognition of darkness which lives within the thinking of each of us?

The capacity to see more deeply into the subtle patterns in nature was described by Rudolf Steiner as etheric vision. He also used the term living picture imagination that has its roots in what the poet Goethe called higher beholding.
Human physiological development of organs in pre-birth times is a template for what later becomes the life of the soul. Perceiving the dialogue between organ systems and the consciousness of a human being forms a basis for insight into the etheric realm. This is revealed in the esoteric law of organ formation. In this web of activity, the True Self or “I” acts as fulcrum for the dynamic between the body, the soul, and a higher beholding of destiny issues that influence health, learning capacities and emotional balance.
For an individual, the development of living picture imagination creates the capacity for forming therapeutic, diagnostic schema.
The final theme of the lecture will be the polarity of propaganda as an illness producing force and placebo as a constant force for healing.

Big Big thank you for these words and more so for delving into this subject in a way that we can enter into the picturing with you, and find the resonance within my/our being…..
I would love to receive the lecture, as a gift, knowing that it’s resonance will bring insights to the groups that I am working with here in South Africa. I seems that we are watching the world go through what we did in 1994, however we were blessed with Mandela, who had been incarcerated for 27 years, probably in preparation for his time and work in the world. Love that when faced with the challenge of all our different national attitudes, he declared 11 official languages, and employed a white afrikaans personal secretary who stayed with him till the end of his life, and moreover work the Springbok rugby jersey to an international Rugby game …. Is it any wonder that when we play Rugby the whole of South Africa pulls as one….. funny that it is such an agressive sport, with such a valuable contribution of peace. This flexibility does however come at a personal cost and awakening to each person individually, but we are getting there….. one soul at a time… one day at a time, one farm at a time. At last Biodynamics is finding its place in the contempory scientific world thanks to people like yourself, Susan Revel and others brave enough to go deeper and further than the indications given by Steiner.
